Released from a Demon of Anger after 40 years!
It is amazing how long we can carry unwanted passengers in our lives. Their entrance into our lives was unnoticed, their impact unrecognised: usually it is only their departure that we notice.
Every person who has been freed from a demon knows it. Sometimes it’s a physical release like here, where it can be accompanied by coughing, or even retching, sighing, sometimes nausea, sometimes a shriek – at a recent conference two SSE students were praying for a woman who wanted healing from a car accident; when they commanded the trauma to go, she shrieked and fell to the ground set free – sometimes it’s simply the sensation of darkness or weight being lifted off.
Usually also, there is the accompanying change in behaviour. Where we were angry, there is a new peace of mind, where fear, a new serenity and assurance, where bitterness, a forgiving, tolerant attitude.
Not that I’m saying it is easy. Habits that have been demonically energised for long periods of time require hard work to break, and new habits require repetition and reinforcement to embed them into our lives. But that is the subject of another post.
For now, what is amazing is just how long these passengers can be onboard without us realising it. There are certain signs that can give us a clue.
If you can say yes to one or more of the above, this might be the time to consider possible different causes of your problems. The reality is, if the above reflects you, then your problem is not a matter of will power. If it was an issue of will power, you would have changed by now, because you appear to have put in enough effort and thought to have already changed.
Accept it. It’s not because you haven’t tried. Therefore maybe it is a demon?
As soon as you open yourself up to that possibility, you are 50% of the way to freedom.
The other 50%?
10% getting the demon out.
40% the hard work of changing thought and habit patterns embedded, sometimes over decades, that cement the new found freedom into your life.
I would love to hear if you have any experiences of being set free yourself, or have prayed for others and set them free.
God is good!!
