I love what Rick Warren says in his books in the Purpose Driven Life. We only get two choices about how to do life. We can live it on purpose or we can live it by accident.
When Jesus chose his disciples he said, “Come with me.” In other words, make a decision to invest your lives with me and learn!
We sometimes think that the investment of our time and money and energy features on the expenses side of the column. That was not at all how Jesus saw it. In Matt. 13:45 he told the parable of the pearl of great price. A merchant finds a priceless pearl in a field and goes away and sells all he has to go and buy it. Did he lose anything in the transaction? Clearly not. The pearl was priceless. Whatever he paid for it was less than its worth.
That is the kind of life that Jesus offers us. Whatever it “costs” is dwarfed by the “return“. Investing our time, money and energy into our spiritual growth is actually the best thing we can do for ourselves.
And the reason it is worth the investment of our lives is because of the what the pearl represents. It represents the Kingdom of Heaven. If you want to focus your life on what truly matters, says Jesus, then focus it on gaining the Kingdom of Heaven. Earlier on, he says it more explicitly: Matt. 6:33 “Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness…”
The new term of SSE starts on 8th October 2013 and I would like you to prayerfully consider joining us for a year of transformation in your spiritual lives, by seeking first the Kingdom of God. At the end of the 2012/13 school year we had graduation and an opportunity for the graduating students to share their testimonies of the year. It was one of the most moving, exciting and inspirational days of the year to hear what God had done in people’s lives! There were dramatic changes, new insights, powerful God encounters, all producing life transformations.
Is it appropriate to think of the cost in terms of time, money, energy? Yes. But biblically, it is even more appropriate to think of the rewards. Even Jesus endured the cross, and despised the shame for the joy (reward) set before him… Heb. 12:2
We would love to see you join us for the 2013/14 discipleship year at the SSE. Just click here.
Let me leave you with some of the testimonies from last year…
“There have been a lot of miracles that have happened as a result of exercising the authority that God had laid in me. God has healed people through prayer, others have been set free. Personally God has healed relationships in my family. Insignificance has been an issue most of my life and God has taken that away. I cannot recall being so confident about my faith and stepping out with the good news of our Lord and saviour.”
Through the school of Supernatural Evangelism, I have learnt to overcome fear; I failed my driving test 15 yrs ago and started doing a Learner driving course last October. I was overcome with such a fear I couldn’t understand, but I know it was from the pits. I couldn’t concentrate because I had nightmares and during the lessons, I became a nervous wreck. I mentioned this at the SSE class and I got prayed for on several occasions and was set free. I thank God for the freedom in Christ. I am now a confident learner driver! For I have not been given the spirit of timidity, but of power, love and sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
