The ninth in our series of testimonies from year 2013/14 of the SSE.
Paula – I have been a Christian for most of my adult life and have done lots of things but I was bored and had got into a rut. So that is why I decided to do the course. To inspire and challenge me and to get me out of my comfort zone
At times we can all the suffer from comparing ourselves with others and the first few weeks of course I suffered from that as lots of amazing things seemed to be happening to the others on the course. I think that as with most things for me. God usually does things gradually and it is only when you look back that you see the changes that have happened…
I think the major change has been with my prophecy gifting. I think I have had this gift for some time but have often doubted that I had heard correctly and that God would use me. We were encouraged to keep and prophecy diary. I am amazed that it is nearly full and instead of sitting on things for days, weeks and or months. I have learnt to listen more and just give what God gives me and to recognize His voice and that I don’t need to analyze everything. I have stepped out and brought words to the Church which was out of my comfort zone and have been so blessed to have confirmations and encouragements at every turn. Its still amazes how God uses us and I think that it is so important that we don’t suffer from comparing ourselves with others and their journey.
A few weeks ago my Church had a women’s event and I was asked by the leadership to pray and minister in the prophetic. So they have obviously noticed a difference!! So I spent time with God and He gave me words for specific woman and for the group as a whole. I did not know whether the women I had words for were going to be at the event or not. So I am amazed that they were there. Some of the women I knew well and others I only knew their names. I was so amazed at how God used me and especially when I brought something for the group and then the guest speaker spoke on exactly the same thing !!
One word I had I thought was for someone but she was not there. The word was about a women with this an amazing smile. But she was the only one not there but then this women who I don’t know at all walked in. She is not part of our church but a friend of someone. She walked in and had this most amazing smile and I knew the word was for her. She was very blessed by what I said and in fact turned up last week at Church to say Thank you.
Last week at Church I was asked to pray for someone who had just turned up that day. So in the past I might just have prayed a general blessing prayer. But as I prayed God gave me things to say and although I was reticent I have learnt just to say it. As I prayed she started to cry and at the end was so grateful and please she had come. So I am getting more bold and trusting that He will use me.
Someone had a word for me recently that I had been frustrated as to my role and that I was now encouraged and knew what my role and gifting is. I think that is so true and I think before if someone said you have a prophetic gifting. I would have said maybe, not sure but now if some asked me I would say Yes and isn’t that amazing that God can use me and He can use you too.
I am looking forward to seeing how God will use me in the future and in very recent days there has been some changes in my life and my reaction to it has amazed me and I am very excited to see what God is going to do next in my life.
